CORAL REEFS CREATE CLOUDS TO STAY COOL When the temperature soars, coral reefs might cool off by creating their own clouds. Research from the Great Barrier Reef shows that corals exude mucus which contains a concentrated source of the chemical demethyl sulphide (DMS). According to the researchers, this is the highest concentration of DMS so far recorded from any organism.
