OTHER WAYS TO DONATE

In Kind Donations:  We also welcome in-kind donations including boats, conservation land, scuba gear, underwater photo/video gear, airplane tickets, office space, cars and lodging for survey teams.

Corporate Sponsorships:  Corporate sponsorships provide a wonderful source of support for SOS's core programs, while offering sponsors visibility, hospitality benefits, and a powerful association with a non-profit scientific and educational organization.

Real Estate Donation:  SOS Center  Many types of Real Estate donations are Tax Deductible. Donating your ecologically or culturally significant land to SOS ensures that your land will be protected forever. It is a gift that will continue to benefit your island community for generations to come.

The mission of SOS land trust mission is to preserve native plants, animals, and natural communities by protecting the lands and water they need to survive. SOS protects land through acquisitions, gifts of land, conservation easements, cooperation with state and local units of government, and private landowners. Gifts can be made during your lifetime or through a bequest or pension plan.  SOS seeks not only land with critical habitat for rare and endangered species or ecosystems, but also trade lands that could be sold and the proceeds used to purchase or manage critical habitat.

Wills or Living Trust:

You can make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.

Specific Bequest: You can name SOS as a direct beneficiary of a specific amount of money or a specific percentage of your estate.

Payroll Deductions:  Many people set up regular payroll deductions from their paycheck to go to charities and non-profits so SOS gets donations from every paycheck instead of one single donation.

Foundation Relations: Independent private and family foundations enhance SOS's programs in education, research, conservation, public outreach, the media, and more.

Matching Gifts: Leverage your gift to SOS through your company's gift-matching program, which can multiply the amount of your contribution. To find out if your company (or your spouse's) has a gift-matching program, ask your human resources office. Please contact us if you have further questions.

Stocks & Bonds:  If you'd like to make a charitable donation and want to double the tax benefits, consider donating some of your investments instead of contributing cash.

Retirement Assets and IRA's:  Individual retirement accounts (IRAs), 401(k) plans, Keogh plans, and other retirement-plan funds are subject to estate and income taxes for your heirs. In many cases the taxes can reduce the value of retirement savings by 50 percent or more. Careful planning can minimize or even eliminate the taxes due on retirement-plan assets.
